KAREN ELEANOR WIGHT
Karen Eleanor Wight was thrilled to be cast as an original goga in July of 2000, but after making goga love her she deserted them after only two rehearsals to go on the US National Tour of Peter Pan.
After touring around the country performing Tiger Lily/Liza as well as understudying Peter Pan and Wendy, she rejoined goga just in time to rock out at the TV2 International Laugh Fest of 2001 in Auckland, New Zealand.
With goga she has had the opportunity to perform at various improv festivals including the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Toronto Jamboree, CIF, Out of Bounds Festival in Austin, and the TV2 fest in New Zealand (again in 2002).
Karen has studied improv with Jay Rhoderick of Centralia, The Upright Citizens Brigade, Los Angeles Theatresports and co-founded the Los Angeles improv group The Greenstone Players. Karen is also a member of Imp, a silent/physical comedy improv group with Asaf Ronen.
Also a classically trained actress, Karen is currently studying Shakespeare with Phoebe Brand (of the Group Theatre) as well as scene study with Alice Spivak.
Recent theatre credits include Olivia in Twelfth Night, Celia in As You Like It, Katherine in Henry V, Gladys in The Pajama Game, and Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar.
When not improvising, performing Shakespeare, or dancing about, Karen writes books. She co-wrote The Substitute Teacher's Survival Guide with Pat Simmons. Check out www.subsurvivalguide.com for more info. The book can be bought through Karen, Amazon.com or Barnes & Noble.
