KAREN HERR
Karen Herr has been teaching and improvising in New York since 1990.
She is a founding member of The Chainsaw Boys, Naked Apartment and Mobius. Karen has appeared in improv festivals throughout the US and abroad, and has studied with Burn Manhattan, the Upright Citizen's Brigade, Shira Piven and briefly with the legendary Del Close of Chicago. Karen also directs The Mobichicks, an all female ensemble improv group, and has taught team building and improvisation to many local theatre groups in Manhattan.
She is currently organizing goga performance groups in Seattle, New Zealand, and Toronto and continues to teach improv classes for performers and non-performers in New York City.
Karen also writes sketch comedy and has written and produced several short films which she co-wrote with her friend and writing partner, New York improvisor, animator and musician Nadine Miller. On screen she can be seen in the upcoming independent film, Anatomy of a Breakup, with fellow gogan Karen Eleanor Wight.
Recently, Ms. Herr has become a board member of TreeStar Productions, a collaborative endeavor dedicated to global and community betterment through the creative forces of laughter and art. Her secret and lifelong ambition of ruling the world with her fab sister Amy Herr is yet to be realized, but rest assured -- collectively they do know how it should all be done.
Most recently, Ms. Herr has been asked to produce the East Coast Funny Women Festival. She is currently booking top New York/East Coast acts and performers for this event which will be held October 24-27 at a Manhattan Theatre to be announced.
